Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area and Cave Creek Historical Documents

When the US Surveyor General's Office surveyed an area a description was included in the file. The above "General Description" done in 1910 describes Township 5 and 6 North Range 4 East. Township 5 North Range 4 East covers parts of Phoenix, Scottsdale, Cave Creek and Carefree from Jomax Road (26600 North) in the south to Stagecoach Pass (36200 North) in the north and Pima Road (8800 East) in the east to 40th Street (4000 East) in the West. Township 6 North Range 4 East covers parts of Cave Creek and Carefree from Stagecoach Pass (36200 North) in the south to The Tonto National Forest in the North and Pima Road (8800 East) in the east to 40th Street (4000 East) in the West. Note that Saguaros are referred to as "giant cactus.'
